Getting Out Of The Sand

Here is a great drill to practice to help you get out of the sand with more consistency.

If you want to get out of the sand without your score ballooning, practice this drill and you will see results.

Getting out of the sand depends on three main aspects: 1. correct set-up. 2. proper technique. 3. a consistent point of entry into the sand.

One of the easiest ways to allow for a proper sand shot around the green is to always remember to set up with an open stance, and open the face of your sand wedge. The closer the pin to the bunker the more open you want your face to be and in turn the longer the sand shot the less open your club face should be. Keep in mind, when hitting a sand shot you do not want to stick the club head in the sand, you want to take sand first and keep following through the shot as you would with a regular shot from the fairway.

Work on an open stance and set-up, along with an open club face and you will see better results from the sand.

Enjoy your next round!
